A short bio
Bénine Brouwer is a PhD candidate at the Computational Science Lab at the University of Amsterdam, working on the development of an AI-driven 3D spheroid modelling pipeline to predict patient-specific drug responses in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and related aggressive B-cell lymphomas. Bénine completed her bachelor's in Applied Mathematics at TU Delft and a master's in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Oxford, developing a strong interest along the way in applying mathematical and computational methods to problems in biology and medicine. Her research combines AI-based image segmentation, RNA sequencing data and Cellular Potts Model simulations into a digital twin capable of capturing how tumour cells and their microenvironment respond to treatment, in close collaboration with the experimental and clinical expertise at Amsterdam UMC. Through this work, she aims to contribute to more personalised, model-informed approaches to cancer treatment.
